Stampable Overlays

Description
- This is a process of applying a 1/4" to 1/2" thick overlay of a polymer modified cementitious topping over a concrete substrate. The overlay can then be stamped or textured in exactly the same manner as conventional decorative concrete. Normally the overlay would be colored and then enhanced with acrylic or acid stains to provide color variations and antiquing qualities. Finally the surface is sealed to enhance and lock in the colors. Again, this is no place to use an inferior product.  We use MIRASTAMP. To get more product information go to http://www.miracote.com. You can also read about our reasons for using this product in the section “Microtoppings- Knockdown Texture”.

Applications - These overlays make an impressive feature floor for existing interior applications where the beauty and richness of decorative, architectural concrete is required; but without the cost and mess of removal and replacement. In fact, this application is used extensively in Las Vegas where it is more convenient to pour the main concrete slab monolithically and trowel finish the whole slab. Then, after the fact, they use stamped overlays in the areas where the stamped-concrete look is desired.

Examples - For some great ideas of decorative concrete (the look you can achieve with overlays), go to http://www.brickform.com and check out their website.  Here is an example of a gorgeous stamped overlay.
