Description - Architectural or decorative concrete is accomplished by adding artistic beauty to concrete by means of stamps, textures, colors, antiquing agents, acid stains, decorative scoring and stenciling. With all the tools and techniques available today, there is no reason for concrete pavements to be stark or bleak. Stamping is the process of imprinting fresh concrete with a textured stamp in order to imitate the look of brick, slate, old cobblestone, etc. Normally one would color the concrete and enhance it with a release agent of an accenting color to give it an antiqued appearance. At this point, still more techniques can then be incorporated to add contrast and variation. Sometimes, it is only a matter of a colored, stamped band or border around a plain gray slab to create a distinctive look. Other times it is untextured concrete with decorative scoring and some acid staining. Applications - There are limitless combinations available, and with careful planning and some creativity, the result can be a work of art, an expression of beauty that can make a commercial establishment be a cut above the rest. Stenciling corporate logos is also a nice touch. Residential applications include driveways, patios, pool decks, etc. Examples
